Dr. Richard Hunt
Dr. Richard Hunt is a native of Rocky Mount, NC, and represents the third generation of dentists in the Hunt family. He is a 1989 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Dr. Richard has served his profession as president of the NC Dental Society and the Dental Foundation of N.C. He is a director & past-chair of the LD Pankey Foundation and was a former chair of the Dental Assisting National Board.
Dr. Hunt realizes the importance of lifelong learning and attends over 100 hours of continuing education every year in order to remain knowledgeable about current topics and techniques in his profession. In turn, he also enjoys teaching other dentists about the joy, happiness, and satisfaction that can be achieved through patient care based on a trusting relationship and clinical excellence.
Dr. Hunt has served as a member of the Visiting Faculty of the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education since 2002 and returns regularly to teach dentists from around the world about the clinical and behavioral skills necessary to lead a progressive, health-centered dental practice. Dr. Hunt is also the lead faculty member teaching the principles of practice management to 4th-year dental students at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and had the privilege of representing dentists from NC, SC & VA on the ADA’s Council on Dental Practice.
Dr. Hunt is also active in his community and church. He is an Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount and has held numerous leadership roles within the church. The Hunts led two mission trips to Mexico where they provided care to impoverished and under-served children and adults.
The Hunts strive to maintain a healthy balance between their personal and professional lives. Dr. Hunt enjoys hunting, golf, fly fishing, and traveling with Amy and their three children – Caroline, Richard, and Charlotte. Charlotte will represent the 4th generation of dentists in the Hunt family when she graduates from the UNC School of Dentistry in 2022.
